Virtual PC Engine for RISC OS |
This is the RISC OS port of Jens Ch. Restemeier's Virtual PC Engine. VPCE is still under development and this port is not yet at full speed, but I thought I would release what I've got since it is running fairly well. It requires a VIDC20 (RISC PC and A7000) because it uses a definable 256 colour palette, but it's probably only playable on a StrongARM anyway. The speed (on a StrongARM) varies between about 15-37 fps but the average speed is currently around 24 fps which is quite usable.
To use VPCE, just find a PC Engine (often referred to by the American name, TurboGrafx) game, set the type to &0d9 and double click on it. Simple! The cursor keys act as the d-pad, A and S as buttons I and II, and RETURN and SPACE as RUN and SELECT. Escape will exit the emulator.
Apologies if anyone's downloaded VPCE around midnight 5-6 July, I've uploaded three new versions in that time :) A few bugs have been fixed, and it now seems to be running at least as fast as a real PC Engine - there should be enough excess speed to justify a multitasking version soon.
